2018, November.

The line and security to get in was quick and efficient, despite it looking frighteningly long.
The wait for the interview was three hours for us, with no working snack machines or drinks. We managed to find one water station that worked.
The interview itself was 5-10 minutes. Confirmation of a few questions that were on the application. We brought our newborn and he happily breastfed and had to have his diaper changed during the interview. He was adored by most of the staff, and they were very kind and efficient.

We arrived 10 minutes before to the office as it was indicated due to COVID protocols, we passed through security similar of TSA (shoes & coats off), and then were checked in - that's where you get asked several questions regarding COVID exposure along with fingerprints and picture- . Then we waited for a bit more than an hour to be called.

The person interviewing us was nice, she didn't ask for specific papers instead she asked us to give her anything we have that would support our case, so I went along the checklist and she would be saying yes if she wanted to see it or not, she asked for my medical but that had been sent with the application so I told her that and she found it in the folder.

Additionally we went through the application questions under oath, one by one, so she would confirm my previous answers. By the end she just asked for 4 pictures of us facing front to be attached, so we choose 1 from our wedding and some others from different trav... read complete review

I had an AOS interview at Manhattan office on 12/14.

I filed AOS October 2019- the whole process took me 1.2 years.

I waited 30 minutes or so after I checked in - staff there were polite except the security guards at the entrance lol.

(Fyi - we are a gay couple)
My husband and I were led to an USCIS officer’s room after waiting about 30 minutes. The officer was female and was polite.

She first checked our IDs and had us seated.

She mentioned that she couldn’t find my medical record - I explained that I had Medical in Japan and it must have been in the yellow envelope I received from the US embassy, but she kept saying “I don’t see it” flicking through my massive pile of applications.

She said I might have to go thorough a medical exam which will cost money and time and I wasn’t happy about it. But there it was my medical record in the files she ha... read complete review

So today I completed my AOS interview at Federal Plaza, Manhattan. First off I'd like to echo the previous reviewer's comments about security being rude and obnoxious (not to me personally, but I heard them talk to others) - the line was very short and there was no need to be talking to people like trash. But hey, it's NYC and exactly what one should come to expect.

Once inside, we were given a number and told to wait for said number to be called. My interview was at 08:50 and by the time we had made it this far, it was about 08:40. We sat and waited for a little over an hour, and it was pretty busy, and much resembled the DMV. I'd bring a book if your interview is at the NYC office.

Eventually we were called, and we followed the interviewer into an office. He sat behind a desk and had my file open. Before we sat, we swore an oath to tell the truth. He asked for passport and drivers licence. He ticked off a few things in the file, there was not really mu... read complete review
